Wake Libertarians continue to make an impact in their local community by delivering hot meals with the Salvation Army.

Libertarian candidates for North Carolina public office launch 2018 political campaigns, offering real choice and effective solutions to questions facing Wake County voters.

Libertarians will challenge the establishment party candidates in 13 of Wake County’s 16 General Assembly districts, the Libertarian Party of Wake County chair announced today. Ten of those candidates plan to file tomorrow between 11 a.m. and noon.

“It’s time to change how our government works in North Carolina,” said David Ulmer, the county chair. Ulmer is running for state House 40.

“All parents should have access to their tax dollars so they can find the best educational opportunity for their children,” he said. “Businesses like our craft brewers should be able to grow their business without crony capitalist interfering. And healthcare providers need the ability to offer more options and customers need to be more empowered to choose the option that works best for them.

The candidates are: Richard Haygood, Senate 14; Brian Lewis, Senate 15; Brian Irving, Senate 16; Bruce Basson, Senate 17; Brad Hessel, Senate 18; Travis Groo, House 11; Cap Hayes, House 34; Michael Nelson, House 35; Robyn Haley Pegram, House 36; Bobby Yates Emory, House 38; Martin Edwin Matuszewski, House 39; David Ulmer, House 40, and; Liam Leaver, House 41.

Also attending the event are Michael Monaco, the first Libertarian candidate for a judicial race, and Jeff Matemu, candidate for U.S. House District 2. Monaco will be running for Appeals Court.

The candidates will start filing at 11 a.m. and gather for a group photo at noon.
