Wake LP Holds Annual Convention

The Annual Convention of the Libertarian Party of Wake County convened March 5 at The Gourmet Factory, Western Blvd, Raleigh. The convention elected officers for the new year and approved several amendments to the Statement of Organization.

Sean Haugh, Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate in 2014, delivered the keynote address, “The Joy or Running for Office.”

Haugh said that running for office is fun, and that more libertarians should do it.

“It's an opportunity for us to put our ideas out there,” he said. “The title candidate is magical. The news media will seek you out to ask for your opinion.”

The main order of business was election of officers: Brian Lewis was re-elected chair and Lonnie Holcomb was elected vice chair. Brian Irving was re-elected secretary, and Brad Hessel will serve another term as treasurer.
